Siren’s Atlas Book

Yes it’s true!  I have turned my Siren’s Atlas Collection into a book!  Hooray!

When is it out?

I released Siren’s Atlas at the Bendigo Sheep and Wool Show Friday 19th to Sunday 21st July.  I was in the new “The Oval” marquee on the main showgrounds oval. It was so good to meet a lot of you there!

For those of you in Australia, you can order your copy now by choosing your preferred terms from the drop-down box below and clicking the button below.  If you are elsewhere in the world, it’s available now on, and Barnes and Noble.

The collection all started in 2016 where I sat down once a week to design a new 6″ square.  So at the end of 2016, I had 52 brand new patterns.  In 2017, I released one a week.

But I have always wanted to be able to condense the collection into one document.  It just wasn’t feasible to combine the 52 patterns as I released them as each one was so long!  I included round by round photos, extra help photos as well as a full video for each one as well as a chart.  It was simply too massive to handle in one document.

Fast forward to 2019 and since then, I have written and released my first print book, Granny Square Flair.  I have been absolutely blown away by the response to it and so my thoughts turned towards doing it all again.

I knew I didn’t want to recreate what I had just done exactly, but the format worked so well for 6″ squares.  Plus I had the niggling thought of making Siren’s Atlas one document and so the 2 ideas became a print Siren’s Atlas book.

Now it’s not a book for beginner crocheters.  Most of the Siren’s Atlas patterns are for intermediate and advanced crocheters.  Why?  Well when I was designing them, I really let me design mind go wild.  I made up a lot of new things, combining a lot of stitches and techniques in new ways to create fun shapes and textures.  You will have to be able to read a pattern or chart and trust that all will be well.  Very often in these squares, in the early rounds you may think there is no way it will all come together to create a nice flat square, but they do.

All patterns have been rigorously tested and re-tested.  If you can trust a pattern, and go with it, you will be fine.

As an added bonus, the book will have 12 brand new patterns for you to play with in addition to the original 52 patterns, so you’ll have enough to make an 8 x 8 square sampler blanket of 64 patterns.

Each pattern has a  written pattern and chart so you can use what you prefer or together to be clear on what is happening.

You will find all of the patterns have been written for my favourite blues colour scheme.  Of course you can do whatever you like with colour.  The blues are what I get asked about most often, so that’s what it is.

There are photos of projects I have made using the squares in the book by the amazing Jo O’Keefe, but the photos are a guide only.  As the book is intended for crocheters who are used to working with squares, I have only listed the yarns used to make the squares with the intention that you will do what you want with the squares.
