I have a new crochet book review for you today! Hooray!
Emily Littlefair (@theloppystitch on Instagram) has written a super fun book all about patterns created in the round – my kinda crochet! It’s called Round and Round the Crochet Hook: Patterns to Inspire and Admire.
Round and Round the Crochet Hook
Emily has created a book with lots of projects perfect to fill an afternoon – short projects born from her lack of time with 3 little fellas running around. There is one large blanket that will take a lot longer but it’s a beauty.
So what’s in it?
After an introduction by Emily, the book has a project gallery right up the front so you can quickly see all the projects and go straight to the one you want. Then the book goes straight into the eighteen projects. There are cushions, coasters, placemats, a rug, a doilies, garlands, a bag and a wall hanging as well as the star of the show – the Winnie’s Wonderland Blanket. Lots to keep you busy and entertained.
Each project has a bit of an intro, all the materials you’ll need, notes on anything you might need to know as well as a full description of any special stitches used in the pattern. The pattern itself is in written (US terms) and chart form for all projects.
After the projects, there is an illustrated section showing crochet basics and techniques.
The book ends with a heartfelt thank you to the many folks who helped Emily create the book.
When flicking through the book, my eye was first drawn to the Sunny Citrus Cushion up above – I think it’s the blue in it calling to me with the sunny yellow pop.
But I decided instead I’d make some of the stars from the Stars in the Night Sky project. It’s intended as a table topper, but I think I am just going to make some of the stars on their own and gift them to the local yarn bombers who are planning a Christmassy bomb somewhere.
I made one in single colour first, then mixed up a couple of blues (of course).
Then I thought I’d get out my reds and greens for the Christmas effect. I think they’ll look rather cool hanging somewhere!
