Garden Gate Free Crochet Pattern

Hi folks.

I’ve been doing a lot of designing and pattern writing lately, and I had cause to revisit one of my earliest patterns.  Oh boy!  What a mess! So I’ve tweaked it a bit and made it much easier to understand.

I am not going to show your the original pattern, but if you really want it, it can be found here on Ravelry. I don’t recommend it though 😉

The block measures 15 cm (6″)  – well it does when I hook it up using a 5 mm hook.  You may need to use a smaller hook though, as I do tend to crochet tight.

Version 2 can be downloaded from below free, just choose the terms you’re most comfortable with :

UK Terms  US Terms

I have used Bendigo Woollen Mills 8ply Cotton for the blocks pictured.  It feels so good.  I think it looks pretty good in a single colour too.

Have fun!

Oh, Shelley, what a pretty, pretty square! You continue to amaze me with your wonderful designs, you really do! I love the one with the three colors, but the square in blue is equally beautiful – thanks for sharing! Marianne xx

I love this square, but would you mind telling me where you changed colors? Were there 3 or 4 colors? Thank you so much!

Hi Kim 🙂 Thanks. I used 4 colours in the pink and green one you see here. I used pink for the first 2 rounds, a light green for rounds 3, 4 & 5, a medium green for round 6, then finished with a dark green. 🙂

Clicking on the download for US or UK patterns results in a 403 error. That’s a security error, so the reason you aren’t having a problem is that you’re signed in to the blog/server. Try to access the page on a computer at the library without signing on and you’ll see the problem.
