Hi Shelley – Love your post! As a Brit living in Australia, I’m just teaching myself to crochet and the book I’m using is USA. and you’re right, the different terminology is doing my head in – even just looking at a translation chart!
Your idea to use the computer to translate is excellent! I’d like to offer my own tip: if you put a space before and after the letters, then the computer won’t change letters when they appear in words, although being very new to looking at patterns, I’m not sure that the space thing will work with how the pattern is written.
